Funny Pan-Arabism
Since I came to England I became interest in rugby which is not that popular in Iran although back home some of my friends play it. Any way the other day I was reading about rugby in wikipedia after France-England match in six nations championship, till I reached this page Arabs organise this rugby team which is a fantastic job, but with what name? Arabian gulf? what?! were is that? (its interesting that the french version of wikipedia call it with different name.)
So I start reading about dispute and almost all of them agreed on one fact that it was only after 60s that the new name showed up, but none of these was the reason that I write this post I found out that in Arabic version of Wikipedia (which is the only version of wikipedia that call Persian Gulf, Arabian Gulf) in the picture that they use for the article they call The gulf, ‘Persian Gulf’ and the name of the file is Persian_gulf_map.png ! isn’t that funny? when you came with a new name for a place out of no where these things happens. My dear Arab friends this is one of the most stupid debates that I ever heard if it isn’t the most stupid one, accept history, future is belongs to all of as. I really adore Arab culture in many ways please don’t ruin it with this stupid political games.
At the end I just want to point out the clever idea of google bomb by a Canada based Iranian Blogger Legofish, he create this page, so if you search Arabian Gulf in almost all of the main search engines they will came with this page as first result.
